1st Terminal Examinations - With the conclusion of the first term of the academic year 2008 at school, the first terminal examinations at the school in Mussoorie began from May 24 and concluded on the 30th of May.
General Secretary's visit to Europe (May 16 to June 30) - On the invitation of The Tibet Relief Fund of UK, Mr. Tashi Phuntsok, General Secretary visited London for an event organized to create awareness and for fundraising on Tibetan Homes Foundation. The event was to coincide with a program of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Seeing this trip as a good opportunity to strengthen the ties and make personal relations with our other supporting organizations, the General Secretary extended his UK tour and visited Germany, Austria, Holland, France and Italy. The trip was extremely successful in bonding closer with our supporters and in making new friends.
Board Grade X & XII results announced - Tibetan Homes School's 17th Graduation day was held on April 5. Earlier, the Board examinations for grade X and XII began from March 1 to April 3, 2008. The board results of grade XII and X were announced in the month of May. Our student fared quite well and below is the pass percentage of the two Schools.

Summer Vacations ( June 1st to 10th ) - The much-awaited summer vacation commenced soon after the declaration of the school 1st term results. Children were excited looking forward to relaxing during the holidays with picnics and visit to town. Routinely during these holidays home parents organized picnics for children to the town's most popular water fall - Kempty falls and to the municipal garden. Children were also provided pocket money to enjoy the vacation. With the change in the timetable of the branch school in Rajpur, the school there closed for its summer break on May 12 until June 20. The change has primarily been implemented due to the climate, which is extremely hot during summers in Rajpur. The Tibetan Homes School in Rajpur unlike Mussoorie now has a longer summer vacation and a shorter winter vacation.
Global Youth Congress at Liverpool, England (June 2nd to 18th ) - Four delegates of Tibetan Homes Foundation participated in the Global Youth Congress at Liverpool, England on invitation and sponsorship from Liverpool Hope University and Hope One World. The workshop was attended by more than 500 delegates from 55 countries of the world. The opening ceremony was conducted at Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and concluding ceremony was conducted at Liverpool Cathedral. Both the ceremonies were ritualistic and very traditional manner. The main aims and objectives of the Big Hope programme was to focus on the Global Youth and ignite the minds of the youth for a brighter future. A week long programme on various aspects such as Keynote Lectures, Discussion Forums, Activity Strands, and Excursion Programme were held. Many eminent speakers on different subjects were invited. Mrs. Cherie Booth, the wife of former Prime Minister of U.K, Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam, former president of India and Mrs. Mary McAleese, president of Ireland were among the speakers worth to be mentioned. The second phase of the programme was organized by Hope One World for SOS delegates. They had arranged for the delegates visit to different schools and then to Liverpool city and London. The trip was very special for our delegates gaining new experiences by meeting with university students of different countries of the world. The delegates were amazed to see the work management of the university and school staffs.
SOS Day Celebrations - On June 23rd 2008, the 89th birth anniversary of late Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, Founder Father of SOS movement was celebrated by all at Mussoorie and Rajpur. Honorable Ms. Youdon Aukatsang, ATPD and Director, Empowering the vision project, New Delhi was the chief guest for the occasion. Ms. Youdon began the program by lighting a butter lamp to Dr. Hermann Gmeiner's portrait and offering traditional scarf to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to Dr. Herman Gmeiner. Thereon Mr. Gedun Rinchen, Asst. General Secretary made an introductory speech highlighting the tremendous life of Dr. Hermann Gmeiner which was followed with a speech from the chief guest. The formal function was followed by mini fun games for children. Later the children received sweets.
Workshop by Empowering the vision project ( June 24-30 ) - A week long "School Outreach Project Workshop" was organized by Empowering the vision project for our school's 123 students of VIII graders at Mussoorie. The main aim of this project has been to help students explore themselves thereby improving their personality, creativity, confidence, communication and decision making and in self disciplining. This workshop was very different and had children actively engaged. Six professional staff members from the vision worked very hard with the children during the week. The project will continue and the group will return back to the school later in the year.
Birthday of His Holiness The Dalai Lama - On 6th July, we celebrated the 73rd birthday of H. H. the Dalai Lama during which the children received pocket money and sweets. The function began with a prayer ceremony on the Dalai hill where prayer flags were raised and incense burnt. Thereafter everyone gathered at the neighboring school ground for the formal function which began with prayer and scarf offering to the portrait of H.H. the Dalai Lama. Our General Secretary and Mr. V K Singh, Principal of Central School for Tibetans addressed the gathering. They spoke on the life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and requested everyone to meet their responsibilities with much hard work and dedication. After the function trees were planted by children and staff members to mark the celebration. In the afternoon at 2 pm all the staff, children above class IX and local Tibetan people gathered at Tsering Dolma Auditorium and offered prayers for the Tibetan martyr's who sacrificed their lives for the country in the recent unrest in Tibet.
2nd Terminal Examinations - The 2nd terminal examinations for the children at Mussoorie began from August 18 and concluded on the 23rd of the same month.
Tibet Week ( August 25 to 30 ) - The Tibet week was observed at school with much excitement. This year's program was distributed into three divisions: i) Grade VI to VIII were involved with project demonstrations and explanation on Tibet in classrooms, ii) Grade X and XII organized morning School assembly for the entire week on Tibetan themes and iii) Grade XI presented short drama on the theme "Education of children completely depends on Teachers". During the week, the campus bore a beautiful look with children and staff members in their traditional Tibetan dresses. On the concluding day the different classes were graded on their performance and winners were rewarded with prizes.
Benmore New Family Homes - The Benmore estate new family homes construction in Mussoorie continues to progress in full swing. The project will be completed by the end of this year and children will be moved into the new homes by the next academic session.
Extra Curricular Activities at School - The term as usual had been busy with children involved in curricular activities such as debates, quiz, art and painting, football and elocution in Inter house competitions.
New Admissions - In the reporting period from May to August there were 10 new children admitted under our care. The fall in the number of new admissions is a direct result of the unrest in Tibet.
