| Inter School Maths Relay and dialectics |
| 19 th August 2010 - 20 th August 2010 |
“Inter-school Maths relay” was organized for the first time at the school auditorium from 19th to 20th of August,2010. Mr. Karma Gelek Yuthok, Secretary, Department of Education was the chief guest on the occasion. Few northern region Tibetan schools including Tibetan Children’s Village School, Selakui and Dharamsala, Central School for Tibetans, Poanta Sahib participated in the relay. Winner of the relay was Tibetan Children’s village, Selakui followed by Tibetan Homes Foundation, Rajpur and Central Tibetan School, Poanta. Master Palden Lodoe of THF,Mussorie was declared as the extempore winner.
Participating students of Tibetan Homes School from Grade VI to X also demonstrated “Mathematics Dialectic” for the first time prior to the relay.
Academically Central Board of Secondary Examination launched Continuous Comprehensive Examination (CCE) for those students sitting for board exams. This means more stress will be given towards students presentation, group exercise, attitude towards teachers, project assessments etc etc. Ultimately, students are freer memorizing all those in books that hardly provides innovations in students mind. |

| Graduation Day of the SOS - Vocational Training Centre |

The graduation day of the SOS - Vocational Training Tentre was held on December 20th. Mr. Yonten, in-charge of the centre made a welcome speech with an annual report of the year. This was followed by awarding of prizes to position holders and distribution of graduation gifts. A total of 9 students graduated from the centre, 5 from Thangka painting section, 2 from Oil painting section and 2 from Tailoring section. After the prize distribution the General Secretary gave a speech, emphasizing on the importance of vocational studies, he then congratulated the graduates and wished them a bright future. |

| Educational cum Pilgrimage Tour |

A total of 75 children were taken for a tour to the holy and historical places of Bodhgaya, Varanasi, Lucknow and Haridwar. The project was funded by TIBET FOUNDATION, U.K. for the fifth consecutive year for 45 children with 30 children being funded by members of the Ex-Mie Nepal Association. Home Away Project was replaced by educational cum pilgrimage tour this year Ex-Mie Nepal Association.

| Overnight Camping |

Winter picnic is meant for those children who stayed back at school during winter vacation. Four groups were made this year since the capacity of children staying back is high. Each group were made to spend “3-days and nights” at the picnic spot called “Gucchu Pani”. Tents were put up with few staffs at the camp whole time. |

| Work Experience Program |

A month long fun classes for the children organized at School during the winter vacation for those children who remained back at Tibetan Homes Foundation. Different classes of Book binding, Butter sculpture, Drawing and Painting, Tibetan Handwriting, Food craft, Audio visual and Mathematics. The resource persons for the different classes were our own staff members.

| Workshop at Sarah Institute for Tibetan Higher Studies |

A weeklong workshop on the guidelines to teach Social Science for junior classes was held at the Sarah Institute for Tibetan Higher Studies from 23rd to 29th of March. Two teachers from Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie and One from THF, Rajpur participated respectively |

| Extra-Curricular Events |
| 1 st April 2011 - 16 th April 2011 |
Final match of the Inter-house Basket tournament that begins on 18th of March held on 1st of April at the school ground with full zest. Songsten house won the yearly trophy from the boys section with Nyatri & Namri standing at the second place followed by Trisong as the second runner up. Two winners of the year from the girl's final match with Trisong and Trirel both standing at the first place with Songsten at the second followed by Namri and Nyatri at the third place.
Inter-house football tournament begins from Saturday, 2nd of April with final match on 15th of April.
Art and Painting Competition within the IIIrd Standard students held on 16th of April with Class – II “A” students at the first place followed by III – “B” and “C”. Art Competition for the participants from “IVth & Vth” standard students were held on 30th of April with Class – V “D” standing at the first place with IV – “C” & “B” as the first and second runner up. |

| 20th Graduation Day |

A total of 165 students graduated School which is one of the biggest numbers of students graduating since THF was established. The ceremony began with the introductory speech from Mr. Duggyal Tsering, Principal, who congratulated graduating students smartly dressed in the traditional attire. The Principal advised the outgoing students to understand the value of time, preserve one’s identity and to keep learning. This was followed by the speech from General Secretary, Mr. Sonam T Khorlatsang who congratulated the students and at the same time highlighted that the office would do as much as possible to meet the needs of students during their higher studies. He re-iterated that the students must work hard and should take up professional studies in different fields which are the need of the hour.
On behalf of the graduates, Master Tenzin Namgyal, outgoing School Captain addressed the gathering. He was emotional in expressing “THANK YOU” to all concerned – teachers, home parents and staff members for their hard work and love. He also took time to say to all the students that we are blessed with such a beautiful life in-spite of being refugees and so we should make the BEST OF EVERYTHING.
The outgoing students are now on a holiday and will be returning back to the school in the end of May when their results will be declared. |

| Obituary |

Tibetan Homes Foundation mourned the sad demise of Mr. Tsewang Dhondup la, an alumnus who served alma mater for the last twenty years since 9th of July, 1990 as an Economic teacher and Headmaster, Tibetan Homes Foundation, Rajpur at the time of his demise.
Mr. Tsewang Dhondup la (Late) was one of those former alumni of THF who used to attend Central School for Tibetans as day scholar with their stay at the “home number 02” at THF. He was one of those students who were awarded with Best Boy medal and he also stood topper of the overall class when he was in XIth Standard. After graduating from school, he pursued for simple graduation and post graduation with achieving double Mastery in different subjects. He then pursued himself in Bachelor of Education.
He dedicated 20 years of his life to Tibetan Homes Foundation with impeccable integrity and commitment, leading a meaningful life and one of the alumni who served back alma mater. We offer our prayers and extend deep appreciation for his achievements. |

| Doon Valley Region Inter-School Tibetan Football League |

Initiated and supported by the "Tibetan National Sports Association (TNSA), Dharamsala", Inter-School football league was set up a year ago with Tibetan Homes Foundation as the coordinator for the current year. A meet of all the Physical Education Trainer from almost all the Tibetan Schools located in and around Doon Valley was held at Tibetan Homes Foundation on Friday, 15th of April. The highlights of the meet were the formulation of minutes, resolution and selection of children under 12 years of age for the football tournament with children under 14 years for the football league. The motive of forming such clubs is to introduce, establish and promote games and sports within Tibetan community, and emphasize sports character-building qualities and one of the first tasks under taken by TNSA is working towards the formation of a “Tibetan Football Team”.

| 49th Founder’s Day |

The 49th anniversary of Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) was celebrated on April 23rd. Gracing the occasion as Chief Guest was Honorable Mr. O.P.Uniyal, Chairman, Nagar Palika Parishad, Uttarakhand. During the occasion awards were presented to the best boys and girls for year 2010 from different sections.
Mr. Dugyal Tsering la, Principal, Mr. Tsewang Dhondup la (late), Senior Headmaster, THF Rajpur, Mr. Pema Tsering la, Incharge, Estates & Development section,, Mr. Tenzin Nima la, Sub-head,Registration & Administration section, & Mr. Tenzin Samphel la, Edcuation Scholarship section, Mrs. Pema Choedon la, teacher and Mr. Pema Tsering la, foster father, Home no. 9 were honored with a Thangkha and a citation for their 20 years dedicated service on the occassion. Demised Mr. Tsewang Dhondup la’s posthumous respect was given to his family.
Master Yeshi Dawa la & Miss. Dhondup Chodon la from the senior section, Master Penpa Chungdak la & Miss. Tsering Palmo la from the Middle section, Master Tenga la & Miss. Khachoe Wangmo la from the junior section, Master Stanzin Thinles la & Miss. Donlha from the Montessori section were awarded with the best boy and girl’s presented with the Best Boys and Girls award on the occasion. Master Tenzin Thinley la and Miss. Pema Choetso la were given prize as the Best Boy and Girl from the Vocational Training Centre, Mussoorie.
The highlight of the celebration was the Tibetan traditional dances by children. The Chief Guest was highly impressed of the works of THF and expressed much happiness being a part of this celebration. He was very impressed by the Tibetan dances of the children showcasing the rich Tibetan culture beautifully preserved by the exile community. Principal and Rector of Central School for Tibetans, Mussoorie were also a part of the celebration.

| Spring Fete |

School’s annual spring fete was organized at Tibetan Homes Foundation, Mussoorie on 24th of April. Our children enjoyed the games and food stalls immensely. They were provided pocket money to play different games and had a great time eating Tibetan delicacies prepared and sold by five houses of the school.

| Inauguration and Consecration of New Elderly Home - Rajpur |

On Friday 29th, 2011 His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin graced and blessed the inauguration of the new elderly home at Rajpur. The ceremony began with the welcoming of Sakya Trizin by School children performing the auspicious Tashi Sholpa dance at the WELCOME GATE. Elderly residents, staff, students and local Tibetans lined up through the road to the entrance welcoming His Holiness with scarves and incense. The Tashi Sholpa group performed on the way and escorted His Holiness to the entrance of the NEW HOME.
Thereon His Holiness inaugurated the NEW HOME by ribbon cutting followed by consecration and a short visit around escorted by General Secretary Mr. Sonam T Khorlatsang and Asst. Secretary, Mr. Gedun Rinchen. On completion of the visit around His Holiness was then offered Tibetan tea and butter rice. His Holiness thereon blessed each elderly which was a special moment and most of the grans were in tears. A special memento was presented to the architect Mr. D K Singh and the builder Mr. Mohammed Ikram by His Holiness as a mark of appreciation for their good work. Thereafter His Holiness left the ceremony while guests were shown around the New Home. A simple lunch was followed for the elderly and the guests. Among the noted dignitaries present were Ex-ATPD members, Tibetan Welfare Officer - Dickeyling, Tibetan Local Justice Commissioner – Dickeyling, Manager – Tibetan Women’s Centre, Rajpur and Representatives from different monasteries and Tibetan settlements around the Doon region.
The New Elderly Home at Rajpur provides accommodation to 101 elderly Tibetans. The project has 73 single and 14 double rooms, ample number of toilets and bathrooms, a dispensary, 6 care taker rooms, ramp for wheel chairs and the highlight of this building is that it is customized and designed as per the needs of the elderly. The project was started in June 2009 by demolition of the old building at the campus. This project was necessary for relocating and bringing together the two elderly homes at Rajpur, for optimum usage of the relocation campus, for providing an ideal new structure as per needs of the elderly and for providing additional space for Tibetan Homes School, Rajpur at School campus. The elderly will now move into their new homes gradually. The kitchen and dining room for the project is available in one of the old building adjacent to the new home.
A special note of “Thank You” to Mrs. Heide Meyer, President - German Aid to Tibetans and Mr. Franz Maucher, Chairman, Schwetzinger Tibethilfe, Germany and Board Members and Members of the two organizations for their partial support to the project.

| Tibetan Elocution & Quiz |

This year’s Inter-house Tibetan Elocution and Quiz trophy were taken away by “Trisong house” standing at the first place followed by “Namri & Songsten house. Students from Grade III to V presented with their Elocution while Grade VI to VIII students participated in the Quiz competition.

| Health Talk |

Helpful talks towards our children on “Tuberculosis & AIDS” were organized by Tibetan Homes Foundation Health department at the School auditorium on 19th and 20th of May from 3:30 PM onwards. All the important topics relating to the spread, precaution, treatment and many more on Tuberculosis and AIDS were covered by Doctor Lobsang la.

| Commendable outcome of 20th graduated students |

Students reached back home to collect their results with Ms. Rinchen Wangmo securing 90.83 from Arts Stream, the highest percentage from the batch. The result was commendable since out of “161 – students” appearing for the examination, only 2 –students can’t qualify with passing marks.

| Summer Break |

Children will leave for 12 days summer break from 1st of June reporting back to school on Sunday, 12th evening. Majority of the children are staying back home where they were taken for outings to the nearby picnic spots by the respective foster parents.

| Inter-House English Quiz Competition |

Students studying in Grade IX to XII participated in Inter-house English Quiz competition held on 18th of June. Namri house won the yearly trophy. All the five houses were running almost same till the Rapid fire round were a girl participant from Namri house performed well leading her house. Trirel and Trisong house were second and third runners up.

| SOS - Day |

92nd birth anniversary of Late Dr. Hermann Gmeiner, Founder Father of SOS movement was celebrated by all at our family. Scarfs were offered to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to Dr. Hermann Gmeiner(late). Formal function in the school auditorium was followed by different activities at the school ground where Montessori kids to elders at the THF Old aged home participated. Activities like balloon bursting, three leg race, Pyramid, etc for the children with elders enjoying the “Smell and Win” game where elders were made to smell the cut off vegetables with their eyes closed.
Tibetan Homes Foundation Staff Alumni and Non-Alumni were also thanked on the occasion for successfully completing a year sponsoring two children. There are “116 – Alumni with 9 – Non-Alumni” staffs contributing towards this sponsorship program from their monthly salary. SOS – Sub Head also thanked our alumni living in different parts of the world who have reconnected back home by either sponsoring or contributing towards different projects.
All the children’s were offered with special meals at their family homes. |

Namri House won the yearly trophy for the Inter-house English competition followed by Trirel, Trisong, Songsten and Nyatri at the second, third, fourth and fifth place. Students from grade III to V participated.

Department of International and Information Relations,CTA,Dharamsala organized an Environmental talk here at the school auditorium on 27th and 28th of June from 3:00 PM onwards. Two resources persons representing the said department covered environmental concerns relating to occupied Tibet.

| Staff Training and Development |

The 7th SOS Mother’s workshop was held from June 28th – 20th July, 2011. The workshop was attended by 27 mothers. The workshop included lessons on Child care, Tibetan language and art of speaking, Cooking, Moral and Ethics, Home chores including electricity and plumbing minor work, Working of Tibetan Homes Foundation and first aid. The workshop was extremely successful A twelve days workshop titled “Primary Mathematics” for our teachers was held from 8th to 19th of August by Liverpool Hope One World, England. A total of 25 staff members from junior, middle and senior school benefited from this workshop.

| 76th Birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama |

The 76th birthday celebration of His Holiness Tenzin Gyatso the XIVth Dalai Lama of Tibet was celebrated with great amount of happiness along with several activities on July 6th. Early community morning prayers were held at Sangsol Hill and the Shedup Choephelling temple with children, staff members and the local Tibetan community of Mussoorie. Special prayers were recited for the long live of His Holiness and incense offered. This was followed with the formal program during which scarves were offered to the portrait of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and children presented cultural dances. The inter-house cultural competition was spectacular with over 200 children involved in the presentation. All the grannies at the Old People Home of Mussoorie joined the celebration where they especially enjoyed the Tibetan dances.
All the children at family homes were offered special meals on the day. This year, the expenses of special meals for the Tibetan Homes Foundation, Rajpur students were offered by “Australian Homex Alumni Association” initiated this year with 14 members.

On September 16, 2011 the new facility Hermann Gmeiner Tibetan Homes School and SOS Mother and Staff Training Centre at Rishikesh was inaugurated by Chief Guest Ven. Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, Former Kalon Tripa, CTA, Dharamsala in presence of Hon. Mr. Siddhartha Kaul, DSG, SOS KDI, Ms. Ulla Sensberg, Board Member, HGF and Mr. Dominic Eggeberger MD, Senate Corporate Ltd. The new School with family homes is spread over 25 acres and is a home to 270 children. The successful completion of this project has reasonably reduced the overcrowding pressure felt in the family homes and School at Mussoorie and Rajpur |

| Inter house Athletic Meet |

The 21st Inter house annual athletic meet of the School was held on 14th of October with Mr. Gyaltsen, Tibetan Welfare Officer, Dharamsala as the Chief Guest and Mr. Wangchuk Gyalpol Director, SOIR IM as the Guest of Honour. The meet began with the Chief Guest taking the guard of honor from the members of the five houses followed with the hoisting of the meet flag. The School band performed brilliantly leading the March Past. This was followed with a children’s mass Tibetan dance display. The children through the day participated in races, throws and jumps and they strived hard and performed well keeping the spectators glued till the end. Ultimately TRIREL house were the overall winners for year 2011.
