Old People's Care

Elders who have no one to look after them and are living in desperate conditions at the evening of their life are taken under the institute’s shelter. THF runs three separate old people's home - Two in Rajpur and One in Mussoorie. Tibetan elderly's living under pathetic condition in different Tibetan settlements in India are looked after at these three old people's home whose age ranges from 65 and above. Special assistance is rendered towards sick and mentally unfit elders.
Two to three aged people share a living room and have a common prayer and dining hall with kitchen and other facilities. The life for the elderly's at homes is made as simple as possible with no strict rules and daily routines. Except for the food hours, the elderliness is free to do anything and thus they usually spend their time with recitation of prayers and circumbulating the temple and the stupa nearby. Elders are also provided with a pocket money on a monthly basis.

Other than prayers the elderly's spent most of their time exchanging experiences of their early life. Some of the elderly's also help with the day to day work of cleaning and working.
Various programs are organized for the elderly's so as to bring much smiles and happiness in the lives of these people. Special programs like pilgrimage to monasteries, receiving blessings of Lama's, outdoor picnics, elderly's day out, and Fun games are arranged on different occasions.
These little changes bring much smiles and happiness in their lives as they feel they are cared and loved.
