Drop Everything and Read (DEAR)

 

At THS Gohri Mafi, we value the transformative power of reading, which has led to the introduction of the DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) program.DEAR is an initiative intended to cultivate a love for reading and improve literacy skills among our students. Reading is a fundamental skill and a gateway to imagination, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

 

1. Twice a month, on Saturdays, our students participate in DEAR sessions. The first session is reserved for delving into books of their choosing, allowing them to explore different genres and authors. This personal choice in reading material helps to cultivate a genuine interest and joy in reading.


2. The subsequent session focuses on reflection, where students articulate their thoughts and reactions to the texts in writing. This practice enhances comprehension,encourages critical thinking, and improves their ability to effectively communicate ideas and emotions.

Through DEAR, our goal is to establish a vibrant reading culture that nurtures inquisitive minds and confident communicators.
