SCHOOL BASED COUNSELLING

The school counsellor facilitates both group and individual counselling sessions to help children cope with the psychological issues arising out of academic challenges, learning difficulties, behavioural management, emotional disturbances, and peer group dynamics. School counselling provides a safe and confidential space for students to discuss a range of issues, and can help them develop social, emotional, and academic skills:

  1. Individual counselling: Helps students resolve personal or interpersonal problems.
  2. Group counselling: Helps students learn to empathize, improve listening and social skills, and find social support.
  3. Career guidance: Helps students learn about the world of work
  4. Prevention: Helps students succeed by developing and implementing plans and programs.
  5. Support for school staff: Assists with classroom management and develops programs to improve mental health or school safety.

The counsellors meet the students, consult and collaborate with teachers and parents, identify their social and emotional issues, and help them resolve their concerns through appropriate interventions.
