Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) ACT

At THS, Dekyiling school, we are fully committed to the safety and protection of all our students. The POCSO Act 2012 is a key law that protects children from sexual abuse, exploitation, and harassment. Section- 2(1) (d) defines a “child” – as any person below the age of 18 years. We take this responsibility seriously and have put several measures in place to ensure a safe learning environment.

Why Child Protection is Important:The safety and well-being of children are paramount. It is essential to educate both students and staff about the risks and safeguards against abuse. Our school plays an active role in promoting child protection by raising awareness among students, staff, and the school community.

Our Initiatives and Awareness Programs:

  1. Student Workshops:We regularly conduct awareness programs such as "Good Touch, Bad Touch" to help students understand personal safety and boundaries. These workshops aim to empower children to recognize unsafe situations and seek help.
  2. Teacher and Staff Training: Our staff undergoes regular training on the POCSO Act, child protection guidelines, and how to identify and respond to concerns. This ensures a vigilant and supportive environment.
  3. POCSO Committee: A dedicated POCSO Committee has been formed, consisting of the school head, two Parent-Teacher Association members, two teachers, and two student council members. This committee oversees student safety and addresses any child protection issues that may arise.

Our Commitment:

At THS, Dekyiling, we prioritize our students' safety above all else. Through workshops, staff training, and our POCSO Committee, we are proactive in maintaining a secure environment. Protecting our students is not just a responsibility—it’s a promise we make to every child and their family.
